The#MeToo movement was XXX, the Cosby trials were in full swing, and allegations against Louis C.K. hadbegun making headlines. In high school, we had all loved his comedy. Americans across generations hadrespected and looked up to Cosby as a model citizen. It left us feeling disenchanted with the idols that wehad once held and it made us question the systems that enabled and empowered them. But we wereconstantly fretting about saying exactly what we meant. And then we were questioning the musicaljuxtaposition. Eventually, we fell out of love with the song and tabled it.While isolated together in Spring 2020, we reimagined the song as a much more intimate piece.Importantly, the new revision saw the addition of the outro, the theoretical rebirth of fame and theassociated expectations now that our generation has seen the ways in which power has been abused.
